WanderLyn: Get Your 10K Steps in .... Cabo San Lucas: A Marina Walk for the 50+ Adventurer

By Lyn, WanderLynTravel

Let’s be honest—just because we’ve crossed the 50 mark doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. If anything, we’ve hit our stride. Staying active while traveling is all about balance: movement, indulgence, great views, and zero guilt.

On a recent girls’ trip to Cabo San Lucas, I discovered the perfect way to hit 10,000 steps without sacrificing one ounce of vacation joy. If you’re looking for a walk that blends local flavor, a little shopping, and plenty of scenic charm, follow me through the Marina district. Whether you’re solo or with your favorite travel crew, this is wellness with a passport stamp.

Start Sweet: Bakery Fiore

📍 Just off the Marina, Cabo San Lucas

Begin your morning at the cozy and charming Bakery Fiore, just a short stroll from the water’s edge. This Balkan-inspired café is a hidden gem where flaky pastries meet bold espresso, and the patio invites you to sit and soak in the Cabo morning vibe.

Personal recommendation? Go for the almond croissant or the feta pastry—both are delicious and energizing enough to fuel your walk. Sip your coffee slowly, breathe in the ocean air, and ease into your active day.

The Marina Stroll

With a satisfied belly and a caffeine boost, head to the Marina promenade. The path here is wide, flat, and perfect for low-impact movement. But make no mistake—you’ll be racking up those steps while taking in some of Cabo’s best views: glistening yachts, turquoise water, street musicians, and locals setting up for the day.

Take your time. Snap photos. Watch the pelicans glide. This is where movement meets mindfulness.

Midday Cool-Down: Plaza Paraiso

📍 Puerto Paraiso Mall

When the sun starts heating up, head indoors to Plaza Paraiso, a modern air-conditioned mall that offers more than just tourist fare. This is your halfway point—a great spot to recharge (and refresh your look while you’re at it).

Don’t Miss: Women’Secret

📍 Inside Plaza Paraiso

One of my favorite finds in the mall is Women’Secret, a stylish yet budget-friendly shop perfect for beachwear and travel essentials. I found a flattering swimsuit that hit the sweet spot between “confident coverage” and “fun and flirty.” Whether you’re browsing or buying, it’s worth a peek.

Marina Eats: A Well-Deserved Break

Back out on the Marina path, you’ll pass dozens of tempting eateries. If hunger strikes, stop at Los Deseos for a plate of ceviche and a fresh juice (or treat yourself to a cocktail—you’ve earned it). You’ll enjoy a prime view of the water and a lovely breeze while you refuel.

Step Off the Beaten Path: Side Streets to the Sandbar

Ready to finish strong? After looping the Marina, break away from the main path and wander a few side streets as you head toward The Sandbar on Medano Beach. This is where your step count really shines. Cabo’s side streets are full of surprises—colorful murals, charming cafés, and local life at its most authentic.

The walk adds a little adventure (and a few bonus steps) to your day, but it’s absolutely worth it.Reward Time: Rooftop Massage at The Sandbar [you can pre-make reservations online at their website!].

📍 The Sandbar, Medano Beach

Arrive at The Sandbar, kick off your sandals, and treat yourself to a rooftop massage. Yes, you read that right—massage tables with an ocean breeze and a rooftop view. Afterward, grab a table in the sand, order a drink and some delightful guacamole, and take a short stroll down to the sea for a refreshing float. You’ve earned this.

Final Thoughts

Traveling doesn’t mean pressing pause on your health—it means finding joyful, beautiful ways to stay active. Cabo’s Marina walk is a reminder that fitness can feel like freedom, not a chore. So lace up your sandals, grab your sunhat, and treat yourself to a morning of movement, culture, and a little indulgence. After all, staying well while wandering is what we do best.

Until next time,

Eat well. Move well. Wander well.
