If you’re new to the game, curious for a tip or two, or planning a trip to San Diego and wondering where to play, this little pickleball wander is just for you! 🌴✨
👟 First Things First: Wear Good Shoes
No one wants to roll an ankle trying to chase a wiffle ball. Trust me. A pair of supportive court shoes or cross-trainers will make all the difference. This isn’t the time for those “they’re fine” old sneakers hiding in the back of your closet. I highly recommend K-Swiss for women pickleball shoes.
They strike a good balance between protection and lightness — you get enough structure to avoid ankle roll and grip the court, without feeling like you’re wearing bricks. Oh, and they are super cute -- style counts!
🏓 Pick Your Paddle Personality
Paddles come in all shapes and styles — from adorable pink ones that match your outfit to high-tech carbon fiber paddles that practically say “I mean business.” Choose one that feels good in your hand (and makes you smile a little). And yes, carbon fiber leopard print paddles are allowed. 😉
🟡 Grab the Right Ball
Outdoor and indoor balls are slightly different — outdoor ones are a bit harder and hold up better against the breeze. Check where you’re playing and bring the right ball so you’re not that person accidentally using the wrong one. (It happens!)

🌟 WanderLyn’s Quick Pickleball Tips
-
Serve and stay put. Don’t charge the net right away — hold your ground and be ready for that return.
-
Keep your paddle up. Think of it like a shield — your best friend during fast volleys.
-
Have fun! Pickleball is wonderfully social. You’ll meet new people, laugh a lot, and maybe even discover your inner competitor.
Whether you’re a total beginner or just pickleball-curious, this game is such a fun way to get outside, move a little, and meet people along the way. So next time you’re wandering through San Diego, grab a paddle and give it a try.
Until next time,
Move well, eat well, wander well.
