You’ve hiked hills, danced through decades, and crushed every step goal from here to the Amalfi Coast—and now it’s time to lace up those shoes and strut your fabulous self through Flåm, Norway.
How did we get there? We boarded a gorgeous Norwegian cruise that skirts the wild northern shores of Iceland, crosses the sea to explore Norway’s majestic fjords,  and ultimately leaves you in the charming south coast of England. See our posts on Iceland and London!
Back to Flåm … This little fjord-side village may look sleepy at first glance, but don’t be fooled—there’s a whole world of adventure packed into this postcard-perfect spot. We’re talking trains, ziplines, bikes, waterfalls, and waffles (yes, W.A.F.F.L.E.S.). And with 10,000 steps/pedals waiting for you right off the cruise ship terminal, you know it’s about to be one unforgettable day.
Start your day like a true adventurer: with carbs. As soon as you step off the ship, head straight to
Flåm Bakeri, a cozy little gem near the train station. Order a traditional
vafler—a heart-shaped Norwegian waffle topped with sour cream and berry jam—and savor that sweet, tangy, delicious bite. Trust me, it's the pre-adventure treat you didn’t know you needed.
Next up: the legendary Flåm Railway. Ranked among the most scenic train rides in the world, this journey takes you through emerald valleys, along steep cliffs, past dramatic waterfalls, and into full-on nature awe. You’ll even get a chance to step out and meet Kjosfossen, a thunderous waterfall with serious diva energy. Pro tip? Keep your camera at the ready by the window and soak up every second—this is nature’s red carpet, and you’ve got front row seats.
